Body of Christian priest reaches state, funeral today – Times of India

ALAPPUZHA: The body of Fr Martin Xavier (33), the Christian priest who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Scotland on June 25, was brought here on Thursday.

The body was received at the Cochin airport by his family and Church leaders. It was later taken to his hometown Pulinkunnu in Alappuzha. His funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Monastery, Chethipuzha, Changanassery, at 11am on Friday. The body will be kept in the church from 8am for paying homage.

Xavier belonged to the CMI congregation of the Catholic Church and was ordained a priest in 2013. Since July 2016, he was in Scotland to pursue his PhD. He was also the parish priest of St Francis Xavier’s Church in Scotland. He went missing in June. On June 25, his body was found on the Edinburgh seashore.
