The Scots town with ‘best chocolate’ that is one of country’s top holiday spots

If you are currently looking for summer travel inspiration, the charming town of Pitlochry is one of Scotland’s top holiday spots.

Pitlochry, often referred to as the Heart of Highland Perthshire, is nestled along the River Tummel. It offers year-round attractions, with a wealth of beautiful walks to explore in the summer.

The town is also home to a variety of restaurants and cafes, so there really is something for everyone. As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, it is even home to “the best chocolate in the world”.

For those with a sweet tooth, the town’s best attraction has to be the home of Scotland’s most awarded chocolatier, Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier. Here you can try the best Dark & White Truffles in The World, as awarded by the International Chocolate Awards, and sample a whole range of unique handmade chocolates.

Visitors can also go into the chocolate lounge, which offers a menu of cakes, small savoury snacks and drinks. Unsurprisingly, all have an emphasis on chocolate.

You can also try out the attraction’s award-winning hot chocolate, which was voted the best in Europe according to the Scottish Daily Express. There is a selection of coffees too, made by a highly-trained barista team who will help ensure your visit is a memorable one.

When it comes to other activities to keep you busy, you are spoilt for choice. To start with, you can visit the picturesque Tummel Valley and Loch Faskally — which was created when the River Tummel was dammed for a local hydroelectric scheme.

The Pitlochry Dam visitor centre is definitely also worth a visit, especially for its fish ladder where around 5,500 salmon ascend from April to October. Further up the valley, you can watch water cascade over rocks at the picturesque Linn of Tummel.
