Swedish woman flew to Scotland ‘for sex with schoolboy’ after online gaming romance

A SWEDISH woman flew to Scotland for sex with a 15-year-old schoolboy she met while playing games online, a court heard.

Matilda Hogman, 30, told a court she made the trip after falling for the lad who she thought was 16 years old.

Details of the duo’s trysts emerged when she gave evidence in her own defence at Dunfermline Sheriff Court where she was cleared of sex offences.

Hogman told of forming a relationship with the boy whom she had met via a computer game called ‘League of Legends’.

She became obsessed, speaking to him “all day every day” even though she had a partner in Sweden.

She claimed he initially gave a false name ‘Jake’ and said he was 17.

She told the court: “Flirting led to more flirting which led to me coming here. One day he told me he loved me.

Defence solicitor Peter Robertson asked: “Did you love him?”

She replied: “Yes. Well, I thought I did. I think we both mutually needed care and attention.”

The court heard of messages from Hogman to the boy calling herself a “predator” and “a paedo”.

It was alleged Hogman was later confronted by the boy’s dad who told her: “You’ve done something wrong. What hopes are you giving him coming here when he’s only 15?”

She was on trial accused of repeatedly kissing, touching and engaging in sexual intercourse with him on various occasions between July 1, and November 10, 2020.

It was alleged she caused him to view sexually explicit images of herself and sent sexual written communications.

The jury returned verdicts of “not proven” to the first charge and “not guilty” to the second.
