Riverside Festival launches search for Scotland’s next superstar DJ

has launched a new initiative to find homegrown talent in Scotland. The Riverside crew have created an epic competition for budding musicians to win the chance to play on the festival’s Satellite Stage next year.

The festival, which will take place on the late May bank holiday weekend, will see winners of the competition will each receive a slot on the dedicated stage, which was created to shine a light on the DJs of the future.

The competition is open to artists of all backgrounds and experience in the hopes of providing a platform for new talent to showcase their skills to a live audience.

Dave Clarke, Riverside Festival co-director, said: “Whether you DJ in a bar or club, play after-hours, keep the vibe flowing at late night flat parties, provide the best warm-up in town, or even mix tracks in your bedroom but haven’t yet played in public, this competition could be your big break.

“At Riverside Festival, it is extremely important for us to book international DJs – however, supporting local talent is equally important, as we want Scotland’s vibrant scene to grow and flourish. So, get your mixes in now, and next year you could be playing to one of the best crowds in the country.”

Submissions are open from now until Thursday, September 28 at 4pm, after which a top 10 shortlist, compiled by the Riverside Festival Team, will be put to a public vote.

The top six entries will then perform live at The Locale Open Decks Night hosted by All U Need on Thursday October 12, with winners then announced on Friday, October 20.

All submitted mixes must be 20 minutes long, and entrants can find further information on the application form and Riverside Festival’s Instagram page.
