Network Rail Invests £1 Million in Glasgow’s Rail Infrastructure
Network Rail has announced that it is investing more than 1 million GBP in improving rail infrastructure around Glasgow, Scotland.
This work will replace ageing tracks between Dalmuir and Yoker, with construction set to begin on 22 September.
The scope of this project includes upgrading the tracks through the 127-year-old Dalmuir Twin Tunnels, which take the railway underneath the Forth & Clyde Canal.
The team will also renew the line’s switches and crossings to the east of Dalmuir station and will install new brackets to support the rails on Platform 5 at Dalmuir station.

To allow this work to take place, the line between Dalmuir and Yoker will be closed between 22 and 25 September. During this time, ScotRail will divert some services via Singer and Anniesland and will provide a replacement bus service between Dalmuir and Partick.
“The work we are undertaking is vital for the long-term future reliability of the line.
“The four-day closure of the line allows us to carry out a huge amount of work at the same time, with engineers combining three projects to deliver the work more efficiently and limiting the time we need to close the railway.”
