Major high street fashion store to close branch at Scottish retail park

A MAJOR high street fashion store is to close its branch at a Scottish retail park.

New Look, located at Gala Water Retail Park in Galashiels, will shut its doors to shoppers this Sunday.

The branch is currently the chain’s only shop in the Borders.

The store is running a 60% discount on selected items ahead of its closure this weekend.

A New Look spokesperson told the Border Telegraph: “Our store in Galashiels is closing on August 13.

“We would like to thank all of our colleagues and the local community for their support over the years.

“We hope customers continue to shop with us at our other locations, while our full product ranges can also be found at newlook.com.”

New Look at Fort Kinnaird Retail Park will now be the closest branch, which is 24.6 miles away.

We recently revealed the four things to always buy at the fashion store and two to avoid.

And we told how New Look is making a major change to prices and shoppers won’t be happy.

In November 2022, the fashion favourite opened several shops across the UK and has plans to open more this year, although it is yet to say how many and where they will be.

In 2018, the fashion retailer sought approval from creditors to cut 1,600 staff and close more than 85 stores after poor performance and struggling to pay back loans.

The company earmarked 60 out of its 593 stores for closure as well as a further six sub-letted sites.
