LIMERICK’S senior hurlers have been handed a huge boost with the news that four time All-Star Sean Finn has returned to full training.

The Bruff defender has been out of action since suffering a cruciate ligament injury during Limerick’s loss to Clare last April in the Munster SHC.

Limerick manager revealed the news following their 1-20 to 0-17 victory over Westmeath in their second Allianz Hurling League game of 2024 yesterday.

“They are in the country and training,” joked Kiely when asked about players returning from injury. “They are working hard. Some of them trained this morning.

“We are trying to make sure that they are fit, healthy, well and that we can bring them to the pitch when we feel that they are ready, 100% ready.

“They are on a good, upward curve as well. We are happy with where they are at. They are making great progress and feeling much stronger.

“Sean (Finn) returned to training on Friday night and that was a huge lift to the group. To have him back is fantastic. It is going to take a while to move him through onto the next phase but he is back on the pitch and back training.”

The Limerick manager added that Declan Hannon has suffered a small injury that has set his progress back by a week or two and ‘that he is on track to be back in a number of weeks’.

Limerick are without a game this weekend but play their third Allianz Hurling League game of the year against Dublin at Croke Park on Saturday, February 24.
