With Liverpool now six points off the top-four with a game to spare over Newcastle, dreams of a UEFA Champions League finish could be back on with the Reds now finding their mojo, with Gakpo’s return to form likely to be massive for the Anfield side in the coming months.
The former PSV Eindhoven star was one of the best wingers in Europe before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break in terms of sheer numbers, with Gakpo also one of the breakout names at the competition itself in Qatar, with the winger now showing his previous form for Liverpool.
Indeed, with key players also returning from injury, Gakpo’s goalscoring run has come at the perfect time for Liverpool, with the forward now in his stride to help Klopp and his squad push for a top-four bid with over three months of the season left to play.
Gakpo display against Newcastle is what Liverpool fans were waiting for
Liverpool’s capture of Gakpo in January was one of the biggest shocks of the transfer window, and the winger finally finding his feet in red is something many supporters have been waiting for, with the Dutchman’s display against Newcastle a glimpse of what is to come.
As mentioned by Klopp, Gakpo’s movement was exceptional against Newcastle, and with the winger getting better with every game, the Reds could soon have another incredible attacking option in their ranks in the 23-year-old forward.
