The iPhone 15 series is seemingly more popular than the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 series. According to the latest data from the Monthly Flagship Smartphone Tracker by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), iPhone 15 series has witnessed a remarkable 16% increase in panel shipments compared to the iPhone 14 series and a 21% surge when compared to the iPhone 13 series during the same time period through October.

Notably, the Pro models of the iPhone 15 have played a lead role in this success story. According to David Naranjo, DSCC Senior Research Director, the iPhone 15 Pro models have consistently accounted for a higher share compared to their predecessors, with a remarkable 64% cumulative share from June to October. In October alone, the iPhone 15 Pro models claimed a total of 71% share marking a significant growth from 65% in the previous month.

The success of the Pro models is further reflected in the blended Average Selling Prices (ASPs) for the iPhone 15 series, which remain 5% higher than the iPhone 14 series during the June to October 2022 timeframe.

Apple’s recent FY Q4’23 earnings call reported quarterly revenues of $89.5 billion, with iPhone revenues witnessing a 3% year-over-year increase to $43.8 billion. Despite facing supply constraints for the iPhone 15 Pro models, Apple anticipates continued year-over-year growth in iPhone revenue for FY Q1’24.

The dominance of the Samsung Display Company (SDC) in the panel supply chain is noteworthy, holding a lion share of 81% for the iPhone 15 series from June to October. LG Display (LGD) entered the scene in September, supplying panels for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and accumulating an 18% share through October. BOE joined the panel supply chain in October with a 1% share.

Apple launched the iPhone 15 series in September at a grand event. The company unveiled 4 new iPhones – iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max – along with the new Apple Watch series and AirPods Pro at the event.
