Four bodies recovered in search for missing teenagers in north Wales

Four bodies have been recovered from a vehicle that appears to have crashed off the road in north Wales following a search for four missing teenagers, police have confirmed.

Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Henderson and Hugo Morris were believed to be planning a camping trip in the Harlech and Porthmadog areas of Gwynedd.

They were last seen on Sunday morning in a silver Ford Fiesta, and their families raised the alarm when the group failed to return home to Shrewsbury.

Supt Owain Llewelyn, of North Wales police, said: “At present, this appears to have been a tragic accident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the four young men at this very difficult time.

“This has been an extensive search involving a number of different agencies and volunteers, and this is sadly not the outcome that any of us would have wanted. We would ask that the family be afforded the appropriate privacy and respect.”

Crystal Owen, Harvey’s mother, told the BBC that they believed the last time the group had used their phones was about midday on Sunday.

North Wales ambulance service said a number of a emergency vehicles, supported by two Wales air ambulance charity helicopters, responded to an incident just after 10am on Tuesday near the A4085 between Nantmor and Tan-Lan in Gwynedd.
