The unit, at Glasgow Fort, was previously occupied by Topshop and Topman.

The flagship store officially opened its doors to fashion fans yesterday morning.

Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort, said: “Our Zara store has always been incredibly popular and the expansion into a significantly larger unit demonstrates the continued demand for high quality fashion among Glasgow shoppers.

“It was great to see the first customers head through the doors of the new, bigger and better store, and we can’t wait to welcome more people throughout the festive season.”

Announcing the news on Facebook, Glasgow Fort wrote: “Say hello to Scotland’s largest Zara store.”

Fashion fans flocked to the comments to express their excitement over the new shop.

One person said: “Congratulations on your new store, looks fantastic.”

A second put: “Looks great.”

A third added: “Absolutely amazing store!”

A fourth weighed in: “I’m moving back to Glasgow.”

The expanded Zara store adds to Glasgow Fort’s existing line up of popular fashion and beauty brands, which includes Mango, Rituals, Lush, Next and River Island.

The retail outlet is open from 10am to 10pm on weekdays, 9am to 7pm on Saturdays and 10am to 6pm on Sundays.

It comes days after plans were approved for a Primark store at Glasgow Fort.
