Cavaliers vs. Sixers expert prediction and odds for NBA In-Season Tournament Group Play

The biggest game of the night in the NBA is at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia with the Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Cleveland is down a key player – star guard Donovan Mitchell – but the team won against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Can Cleveland recreate that magic against a surging Philly team?

The Sixers have been elite as favorites this season, which is going to make things tough on a shorthanded Cleveland squad.

Cavaliers vs. Sixers key players to watch

Cleveland Cavaliers

Darius Garland: With Mitchell out, the Cavs offense will run through Garland, who has thrived at times with the All-NBA guard sidelined. Garland has averaged 25.8 points, 8.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 12 games without Donovan Mitchell since the start of the 2022-23 season.

Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid: This is going to be an interesting matchup for Embiid, who has been dominant this season – averaging 31.9 points per game. The Cavs have two strong defenders in Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen down low, so Embiid is going to need to work for his baskets. He scored 19, 29 and 36 points in three games against Cleveland last season.

Cavaliers vs. Sixers prediction and pick

This would’ve been a better game had Mitchell not gotten injured, and that’s the reason for the Sixers entering this game as 7.5-point favorites.

Philly is the No. 2 team in the NBA in net rating, and the Sixers are 10-3 ATS overall and an impressive 8-2 ATS as favorites this season.

Cleveland is just 17th in net rating this season despite winning three straight games.

The Sixers have won just about every game it’s supposed to, and the team should have enough offensive firepower to take down a Mitchell-less Cavs team on Tuesday.
