A huge adaptation of J.M Barrie’s much loved Peter Pan tale is to fly to Scotland this Christmas as the world’s biggest pantomime comes to both Aberdeen and Glasgow.

This year’s show, which will see Culture Club legend Boy George play the notorious Captain Hook, and high flying comedy stuntman Jordan Conway playing Peter Pan, follows the success of Elf – The Musical’s arena tour last year.

The cast of fifty includes a dozen cirque performers, dazzling aerial stunts, a giant battle where the audience throw cannonballs at Hook’s ship and a large troupe of Irish and Highland dancers.

The show will come to Aberdeen’s P&J Live arena on December 27 and 28, and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on December 29 and 30.

Speaking ahead of the opening night, Boy George said: “I’m really looking forward to playing Captain Hook and showing off my evil side! I make my first entrance on a life size galleon that sails around the stage in front of an amazing water-wall fountain.

“Although the show has traditional pantomime elements, it is so much more, being a mix of cirque and spectacular event … and I get a chance to fight a giant animatronic crocodile. What’s not to like?”

In preparation for his forthcoming battle with Captain Hook at in Aberdeen and Glasgow, actor Jordan,  who recently did a skydive from 15,000 feet dressed as JM Barrie’s much loved Lost Boy, said: “I adore coming to Scotland, I’ve did Elf there last year and the audiences were really welcoming and out to enjoy themselves, which is as it should be. They were brilliant.

“I’d never worn a kilt before and was amazed at how comfortable it was. It’s also got me researching the clans to see if there’s one that might have a Conway connection. It would be be great to discover I had my own family tartan… and who knows, I might even be the next Scott’s Porridge Oats man one day. I’d love that.”

Producer Jon Conway added: “I am thrilled to be working with Boy George, surely one of the most iconic stars of all time, who will make this production stylish and unique.

“We use every square inch of the stage and auditorium to deliver a massive production both breath-taking and hilarious. Two huge LED screens make sure nobody ever misses any of the action.”
