Race 1. (13:45) Stainless Fx Mdn Hcp 1350m

2 Discover (Bet Now: $5.50) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. Chris Waller trained son of Reliable Man that had a two run Winter prep to start his career where he was okay without setting the world on fire. First up at 1350m rather than 1200m or shorter tells me there is a level of intent and I thought his trial at Randwick was a lovely piece of work. Likely spots them a start but will be strong at the end.

Danger

8 Figment (Bet Now: $9.00) is the race fit horse with positive form and commands respect for Team Snowden. She ran over 1200m at Scone last start where she was near the speed throughout and I thought she was there to put the race away but she just whacked to the line I thought when third to Outback Archie. 1350m is the query, but the depth is on the thin side and she maps ideally.

Long Shot

7 Sir Maurice (Bet Now: $20.00) will jump on the bunny and give a sight. Forget he went around at Canterbury last time. He was a mess pre race, he did too much work in the run and understandably, pulled up post race with a poor recovery. Far from disgraced the start prior behind a Stakes class horse of the future, Heads You Lose, which clearly reads well for this, so don’t dismiss him.

Race 2. (14:20) Pride Excavations (Bm64) 2100m

7 Supertrail (Bet Now: $5.00) gets the nod but gee this race is a bit on the thin side. Brett Cavanough trained gelding that comes back to 2100m after attempting to lead throughout over 2300m at Newcastle and he did give a very strong kick from the front but couldn’t quite finish it off when nabbed late by Muckabout. He should find the front comfortably and from there, he’ll take running down.

Danger

2 Aunt Roberta (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is the one with upside and a touch of quality about her. She resumed over the Hawkesbury mile where she was a notable drifter in betting and after leading, she gave a solid kick but condition gave way late when fourth to Call Me Louis. Better for the run, she is a city winner so in terms of class, she is clearly #1 seed and has the most upside.

Long Shot

8 Old Gregg (Bet Now: $12.00) doesn’t win out of turn but maps ideally and is tough. He ran over 2050m at Wodonga last time out. He had a suck run in behind and looked the winner when presented but just found one better in Fifi Blue. He maps to stalk the speed and Robbie Downey is one of the more in form riders at the moment. A win wouldn’t shock.

Race 3. (14:55) Gold Coast Yearling Sale 3-16 Jan (Bm64) 1600m

2 Ritzytwenties (Bet Now: $3.00) looks the one to beat for GaiBott. He was an odds on pop in the Bong Bong Cup last start at the mile and he was game in defeat when on speed and just couldn’t quite finish it off when a narrow second to California August. Strong win the start prior at Goublurn, he’ll jump on the bunny here and prove hard to get past.

Danger

7 Silent Russian (Bet Now: $5.00) should be suited up in trip for Team Freedman. Market kept him relatively safe in betting when resuming over 1400m at Newcastle where he had the suck run on the fence and tried his guts out but being first up, condition just gave way when second to Emmadella. Fitter, up to the mile, I think he only runs well.

Long Shot

3 Oakfield Twilight (Bet Now: $21.00) has home track advantage and a kind map. He ran over the mile at Gosford last time when outside the speed throughout but was a beaten horse in the straight but I will say, he should have finished closer had he not got a check late. Gets in really well after the claim and I think he’ll either lead or stalk Ritzytwenties.

Race 4. (15:30) Magic Millions Wyong 3Yo & 4Yo Stakes 1200m

6 Royal Merchant (Bet Now: $2.00) just has to overcome the sticky draw and she has this lot covered. This mare has been kept on ice, having not raced since the Hot Danish at Rosehill when on speed throughout and just lacked the change up speed to go with them late when fourth to Roots. Blinkers on, trial was outstanding and barring bad luck, she’s the winner.

Danger

7 Semana (Bet Now: $5.00) is a stablemate of Royal Merchant that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since July 22 when a solid fifth in the Winter Challenge at Rosehill behind Barbie’s Fox, who went on to have a fruitful Spring, so the form does read well and with two trials under the belt, the grounding is there to run a positive race.

Long Shot

9 Fleetwood (Bet Now: $8.50) is a knockout hope. James Cummings trained three year old that comes here off the back of a win at Rosehill where he was given a beaut steer on speed by Zac Lloyd and in a driving finish, he was too good. Harder here, clearly, but has the race fitness, a good racing style and upside/progression.

Race 5. (16:05) Wyong Leagues Group (Bm68) 1300m

2 Little Beginnings (Bet Now: $4.60) is worthy of another chance. Kris Lees trained gelding that resumed under the lights at Canterbury where he was doing work early before finding a spot but he didn’t really get clear in the straight. That said, I don’t think he was threatening when running last behind Tumbling. Better for the run, more positive ride, he’ll be hard to beat.

Danger

5 The Empire (Bet Now: $6.00) is knocking on the door to win for Nathan Doyle. He landed on speed at Newcastle last time and was game as ever, but just couldn’t finish the race off when a well held second to Annulus. That was his first run in six weeks so with good room for improvement, good racing style, he appeals.

Long Shot

9 Takara Star (Bet Now: $12.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. She attempted to lead throughout in that Newcastle race mentioned above and she did give a solid kick but felt the pinch late, running fourth. Dangerous at odds if she finds the front and gets some level of control.

Back Me

4 Spywire (Bet Now: $1.55) has been one of the more impressive juveniles seen this season and the stable loves to target these early 2YO races en route to the Gold Coast. He debuted at the midweeks at Rosehill where he led throughout and spanked them in a very sharp display. This isn’t a deep race so he only has to run up to the debut to be winning again.

Danger

8 Toque (Bet Now: $3.80) is the only horse I could consider a threat to the favourite. GaiBott filly that has trialled up well on a couple of occasions to get ready for her first start and we know how well the stable is going with their juveniles so watch the market and see if it says if this filly is ready to run well on debut.

Long Shot

1 Aboveforty (Bet Now: $26.00) is a son of Too Darn Hot for Chris Waller that is on debut. He ran second in his first trial at Warwick Farm behind Traffic Warden before trialling at Randwick where he was beaten by a distance in a trial where they ran very fast time. He showed in the first trial he can take up a forward spot so I’d watch the market and see what it does.

Race 7. (17:15) Pbl Law Group Midway (Bm64) 1100m

Back Me

8 Bojangles (Bet Now: $2.70) is the winner if he can overcome the tricky gate. Kim Waugh trained three year old that resumed at this track/distance in a maiden where he looked a moral on paper and he didn’t give his fans a moment of worry, getting into a dream spot behind the speed before angling clear and he went through his gears to win and win well. Positive ride form Tommy here, he should land near the front and be too good.

Danger

3 Northumbria (Bet Now: $5.50) is flying for Richard Litt and commands respect. Let down with purpose to win his maiden first up at Goulburn with a fair degree of arrogance before going to the midweeks at Warwick Farm where he surged hard late to finish best. Maps to get the perfect run and if the favourite is off his game, this guy will be there to pick up the pieces.

Long Shot

7 The Extreme Cat (Bet Now: $9.00) looks like he will enjoy life under the care of Nathan Doyle, formerly with Maher/Eustace. First run for the new stable came at Coffs Harbour where he belted them after sitting wide no cover for the trip, he gapped them late and was impressive. Got good upside to come and is a leading contender if he can overcome the sticky gate.
